On August 3rd, 2024, Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal hosted a thrilling hiking adventure titled “Hiking for Fun with Case Scenarios” with eager hikers gathered at the beautiful Bishnudwar Trail.
The air was filled with excitement and laughter, sparking new friendships and encouragement among the participants. The hike began after a half-hour introduction session at Budhanilkantha Temple and proceeded to Bishnudwar Temple. Our group of 20 dedicated participants reached to the destination after 3 hours of hike. The trail offered mesmerizing waterfalls , caves, stunning views of the Kathmandu valley and surrounding hills.
After a short break, we conducted a case simulations volunteered by our participants. Dr. Ashik Rajak, Dr. Aakash Sherpalee, Dr. Surya Prakash Joshi and Dr. Sanjeev Kharel led the instructions and discussions. They demonstrated basic first-aid techniques and discussed how to stabilize patients in emergency situations. They described common injuries and incidents that hikers might encounter such as sprains, fractures, altitude sickness and also emphasized prevention strategies.
This event did more than just challenging our bodies- we learned to work together and grow as a team. The Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal is committed to continuing such activities blending adventure with learning. Each step we take together deepens our connection to the land and to each other.
