HIGH ALTITUDE
Are you travelling to an altitude more than 2500 m above sea level? Travelling to an altitude above 2500 m predisposes you to develop many medical conditions that are not seen at lower altitudes such as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). These conditions can be life threatening if not promptly treated. In addition, many other chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension or other lungs disease can be aggravated at high altitude because of relative rarity of oxygen, exhaustion and dehydration. It is important that you understand these risks and are adequately prepared to deal with such risks before you travel to high altitude.
